UPDATE

April 7th- April 25th

After the final presentations (April 7th) we have continued to work on the project CampusPlan Eindhoven. The chosen plan presents a new perspective on the contemporary analysis of the Campusplan. Besides the applied architectural and urban rules, the use by the users will be the starting point to test whether the campus is functioning according to the preferences of the users. The exhibition contains three stages in which the people, campus and city are related to each other.

A collection of twenty-two persons will guide the visitor through a route of the use of the city (1). The second part is the campus scale which is reflected on the ceiling and connects the chosen individuals to the buildings they use (2). By placing the campus plan on the floor, an interactive part is created in which visitors can share their own experience by the use of stickers, but also by reordering blocks on the floor and thus creating their own Campusplan (3). In the following weeks the final exposition will be developed. The materials which will be used, and information on the development will be specified in an update.

We wish the project team every success and look forward to the opening!

KW 1 – 2017: Project team “Campusplan Eindhoven” TU / e

The Fleur Groenendijk Foundation congratulates the project team ‘Campusplan Eindhoven’, TU / e, with winning the first quarterly price of 2017!

At the moment we are following a Master Studio Architecture at the TU / e with a group of 11 students, led by Dr. Sergio M. Figueiredo, in which we organize an exhibition called ‘Campusplan Eindhoven’. We are extremely happy to be able to explain to you that we see a very large agreement with the criteria described and what we are going to realize in this Master Studio at the TU / e. We would like to briefly explain to you why we are eligible for the following criteria:

It concerns a group of students who seek stimulation during their education and training in the field of architecture, art, culture and science.
It’s about architecture.
It concerns the training and formation of young people.
The project has entrepreneurial properties.
It is a small-scale project, in which the FGF contribution of up to € 2,500 is important!
That means: without the FGF money it will not work.
Since it is a study project, everything is organized on a voluntary basis, so there are no professionals involved – only the assessing expertise of the supervising lecturer.
We have defined a clear budget for our project.
We are willing to cooperate with publication on the website and provide the necessary material for this. During all forms of publication (on our website under construction, our current Facebook page, the reference book and other publications we mention the Fleur Groenendijk Foundation and we will inform you accordingly.
We are also interested in the possibility of obtaining advisory / network support. With this we want to bring the exposition to the attention of a larger audience and perhaps there are opportunities here for the exhibition to travel through the country at other locations after our project.

THE SUBJECT
The TU / e campus is transforming into the new Science Park Eindhoven. Instead of a completely new design and master plan, the new campus plan and adaptation of the qualities of the original TU / e will bring modernist architecture and urban planning to the new context, in which not only education at various levels plays a major role, but which also includes business and housing. The TU / e campus plan will effectively expand on the historical urban planning and architectural, formal and typological qualities of the University’s original plan. A green, spatial campus, defined by buildings positioned in an orthogonal grid as free standing objects, in which especially the spatial composition with a formal combination of high-rise and low-rise is visible. In order to guarantee, emphasize and improve these qualities, a number of urban planning and architectural rules have been defined.

THE STUDIO
This studio intends to explore the underlying elements of the TU / e campus plan by organizing an interactive participating exhibition, which in addition to presenting the plan will also serve as a broad platform for both the TU / e community and residents of the campus. the city of Eindhoven and the Netherlands, to participate and comment on.

INSPIRATION
This exhibition is inspired by an exhibition from 1969 in the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven called ‘Cityplan Eindhoven’ (1), in which the spatial experience and engaging artifacts are used to let the audience participate in the creation of this modern plan to Eindhoven’s center to be redeveloped. Various elements were used to promote public involvement and participation, including a large 1:20 scale model that visitors could walk through to experience the plan in space, a 1: 1000 scale model that could be arranged by visitors, and even a catalog where adjustments and / or remarks could be made regarding the master plan.

THE LOCATION
The exhibition will be installed in the entrance hall Plaza of the publicly accessible faculty building Architecture, called Vertigo. The faculty is located on the Campus site of the TU / e and is only a few minutes walk from the central station Eindhoven, also the campus area is easily accessible by car.

THE EXHIBITION
The time schedule of our current Semester is explained in the enclosed overview. It shows that we are already through our analysis phase and are currently working hard to realize the design of the exhibition. We also have more detailed planning, which can also be sent to you if necessary. The design process is as follows; each student creates an individual design for the exhibition and supplies the necessary 2D and 3D drawings and visualisations – such as floor plans, cross-sections, details, renders -, which must be clear which research question is presented by the exhibition, the size and dimensions of the design , a visualization of the materials that are specifically exhibited with an indication of how this material is presented and how the exhibition can be realized.

On 7 April the individual presentations will take place, after which the lecturer will decide which design will be implemented, or even a combination of designs. Based on this choice, the design will be further fine-tuned and the construction can start on 24 April. After the installation in late May, a public debate will follow in June after which the show will continue until July 7.
